Summering

Yes, I have changed "summer" to a verb.  We have done some serious summering this week.  Friday we hit the ground running.  We played at the park, and then headed to the Gorley's for some swimming.  I literally called Mandy, and I asked if Kyler was playing baseball at the park.  She said, "No, but come over to swim."  I loved it and we did.

Next, Hudson's birthday was such a blast!  Dex and I stayed for a few hours to play.

Nick and Marcie are truly gifted at birthday themes and decor, and Susan rocked the games.

Dex loved being with the big boys.  They were all so sweet with him too.

 How much fun is Susan?
 I absolutely love this shot.

The rest of the week was spent with some serious summering.  I think we packed all our traditional summer activities into one week.  This was my first summer in six years with no diaper bag, no strict nap schedule, no huge car seats, no screaming uncompromising toddler, no specific necessary bed time, and two kids that love to be outside and love to play.

We... swam,
(Yes, Declan is tall enough to stand in the pool!)
 sprinkled,

picked strawberries at Bottom View Farms,

ate ice cream,

 more swimming,

  ate Shipley Donuts,
 more swimming,
  skated,
played with ducks,
 played at camp,

 played at the playground,
ate dinner with family,
explored Nashville with friends,
and ate more ice cream.

The first week of summer was a blast!
